The Kiwanis
Youth Service Committee begins a new fiscal year on October 1 of each year.
The Youth Service Committee is sending out this letter to let groups,
schools, businesses, agencies, and organizations know that we will be soliciting
funding and/or service requests (via application) for youth related service
activities in the Benton County area. Our
allocated funds come from the fund-raising activities of the Kiwanis Club of
Funding
requests must be submitted on a formal Youth Services funding application form.
This form can be found in the links at the top of this screen. Funding requests will be
evaluated by the YSC monthly. We
meet on the second Tuesday of the month, 7:00-8:00 a.m. at Elmer's Restaurant
to conduct business and evaluate requests. Therefore,
we ask that funding requests be received by the YSC no later than the last day
of the month, to be considered at the next meeting.
Some critical
information should be included on the funding application:
The project
or program must serve
How many youth will be impacted by the funding;
Did
you request funds the previous year and how much;
Funds
should not be used for administrative uses (staff positions or wages);
Request
a reasonable dollar amount (requests can be fully funded, partially funded,
‘tabled’ for later consideration, or not funded by the YSC).
If you submit a
funding request, you have an option of attending a Youth Service Committee
meeting and making an oral presentation to the committee along with the written
application. We would also
appreciate and entertain a post visit, a card or a message of "feedback"
after your program or project (if funded) is completed.
The Youth
Services Committee also funds a separate Student
Recognition Program for CHS and CVHS students to recognize "Student of
the Quarter." "Most Improved Student," and "Student of the
Year" with scholarship money, a luncheon and a certificate.
Counselors at the two high schools should have more information on this
program.
The Youth
Services Committee also advises, funds, and mentors the OSU Circle K Club and
the CHS Key Club. These are two
Kiwanis sponsored organizations.
The Youth
Services Committee also is available to do youth-related volunteer work and
service in the community. We will
help in any way possible on projects and programs.
Many members of our committee are willing to roll up their sleeves and
take the time to help out. The youth
of our community is our most valuable resource and Kiwanis is ready and
available to take an active role their development.
Good luck, as
you continue to do good things for the youth of
